HistoryMurray, Stok & Company was founded as Schorno, Murray and Company by Dean Schorno and Chris Murray in 1991. Both Dean and Chris were seasoned Tax Managers at Arthur Anderson & Co. when they decided to launch their own small firm. In the first six months, the firm had the staff operating out of one room in Chris Murray's home in Alameda. Eventually, the office relocated to Emeryville, CA, affording the staff a more professional environment. Over the next several years, Dean and Chris recruited outstanding staff and established their firm as a high-quality tax and accounting option for individual and corporate clients. The firm's offices were moved to SF in 1997. In 2001, Dean Schorno resigned as a partner to pursue a career in independent consulting.
