History
Kaneeza Lafir is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, born and raised in Sri Lanka. She completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Madras, S. India. Dr. Lafir received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) from Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University. She obtained her 2nd and 3rd doctoral degrees (PsyD and PhD), both in Psychoanalysis from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Los Angeles. In 2015, Dr. Lafir was invited to help develop a for-profit counseling center by its founder Dr. Larry Kuhn, a former supervisee of hers. In the beginning of 2017, Dr. Lafir became the owner of this counseling center, now known as Prepare to Change Counseling. Towards the end of 2017, she founded the non-profit arm of this counseling center.

Prepare to Change also has offices located in Newport Beach and Norwalk. We offer individual therapy and couples/marriage/family counseling, group therapy, and psychological testing services by licensed professionals. Prepare to Change Psychologists also conduct testing for Peace Officers who wish to appeal hiring decisions. Thanks to the commitment of our past and current clients, we have become a leading provider of psychological services in Southern California. All staff are licensed and in a continuous pattern of professional growth and development. Our psychologists also supervise the training of new counseling professionals and licensed mental health professionals. Superbills will be provided for insurance clients.
