The family-owned and family-oriented breakfast-specialty restaurant is known by locals as the Potato Shack. There are two kitchens for quick service on the weekends when it gets very busy, and two different rooms, one of which can be used for private parties and luncheons, for service. A father-and-son owned business, the clientèle spans all generations from children to seniors, and has been in the community so long that kids who grew up on the Shack are now bringing their own children. The tables are uniquely shaped and made out of premium redwood, which gives the diner an incredible authentic and cozy feeling. Customers can split any dish on the "all you can eat." A hallmark of the menu is that anything can be ordered anytime. It is also a very dog- friendly restaurant, and the owners are constantly around, greeting guests and making sure everything is just perfect. The owners are also football maniacs; they have a hall of fame wall and frequent visits from the San Diego celebrity, Junior Seau. The owners have also coached Torrey Pines' football for 20 years. Needless to say, the Potato Shack Cafe is a pillar of the Encinitas community.
