The Portal of the Folded Wings Shrine to Aviation in Burbank, California is a historic 75-foot-tall structure built in 1924 as the entrance to Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as the final resting place for fifteen pioneers of aviation, it was dedicated in 1953 as a tribute to pilots, mechanics, and other aviation pioneers.
Designed by Kenneth A. MacDonald Jr. and Federico Augustino Giorgi, this shrine stands as a lasting tribute to those who contributed significantly to the history and development of aviation. The Burbank Aviation Museum inside the shrine is open on the first Sunday of each month, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich aviation history preserved within its walls.
