History
We reside on the historical land/village of the Picayune Rancheria. This land belonged to my ancestors for many, many, generations. our family dates back on this land for over 1000+ years. The Rancheria was a Chukchansi village before the U.S. government turned it into a reservation. The reservation was terminated by the U.S. government and the land owners fought to be recognized again. The Natives were forced to pay taxes on their land. In 1980's the land was returned to Rancheria status. The current turmoil of the Chukchansi casino left many of the Native American people on the Rancheria jobless, without water. Among those, the chef who was a dedicated chef for the casino for 10 years. Many local Natives were hindered by the closing of the casino and the criminal actions of those running the casino. The People of the Picayune Rancheria have taken it into their hands to care for the local Natives the only way they knew, Indian Tacos. New meets old!
