Photography West Gallery is one of the oldest photography galleries in the United States. It was founded in 1980 to support working West Coast photographers, and promote public recognition of photography as a historically significant fine art. Our passionate, continued dedication to film and darkroom craftsmanship honors our unique regional history. Each gallery photographer is an accomplished darkroom master, using film, archival photographic papers and wet processes. Many have created their own darkroom chemistry, built their own cameras and even invented their unique, light sensitive techniques.
