Patrick J. Ruane started nearly a century ago when two brothers set off for America from their native Ireland. Patrick and Malachy Ruane arrived in San Francisco in the early 1900s. The brothers joined the Plasterers' and Shophands' Local Union 66 and began the learning process that would lead them to having a hand in a number of building projects that were to become architectural classics throughout the San Francisco landscape, such as the San Francisco Veteran's War Memorial Building and the War Memorial Opera Building. In 1940, the brothers set out on their own by founding of Patrick J. Ruane Plastering. The company is a lath, plaster and drywall contractor. Services include lath and plaster, drywall finishing, structural fireproofing, an in-house casting department, metal stud framing, documentation services, historical renovation, Venetian finishes, Japanese finishes, synthetic finishes and acoustical plaster systems. Patrick J. Ruane is located in South San Francisco, Calif.
