Opened in fall 2012, Ogawashi anchors itself as the latest dining establishment in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, a centralized commercial area in downtown San Diego. Ogawashi owner, Suyong Yi, had chosen this location on 5th Avenue after a long search for his latest offering for fresh sushi and a fun ambience. Inspired by the busy and urban atmosphere of this central corner at 5th Ave and C Street, he hired the well-awarded Basile Studio to do the build out for re-vamped space. Yi also desired to bring a more fun vibe and serious bar program for Ogawashi. Anchored by craft beers, both local, Japanese, and other international offerings, it provides to be one of the more unique beer list that matches well with sushi. Hand-crafted cocktails and an impressive sake list will make this an immediate hot spot for creative libations.
