Los Angels County Sheriff's Department Norwalk Station is located in the southeast corner of Los Angeles County. It serves the California cities of Norwalk, La Mirada and the unincorporated South Whittier area. Norwalk Station patrol is responsible for the protection of life and property, preservation of peace, prevention and suppression of crime and apprehension of violators in a 24-square mile patrol area with nearly 220,000 residents. The basic services it provides include general law enforcement, traffic control and jail management. More than 200 personnel including a captain, six lieutenants, sergeants, and deputies provide services. Additionally, nearly 50 civilian personnel, almost a dozen uniformed reserves, 100-plus civilian volunteers, more than 20 volunteers on patrol, approximately two dozen explorers and several volunteer clergy members are assigned to Norwalk Station.
