Founded in 1951, Northern California Community Blood Bank is a nonprofit organization that deals in blood donation programs and services. It is governed by volunteers and offers adequate supply of blood and other blood services to patients, physicians and hospitals. The blood bank performs various duties that include component production, quality control and testing of blood products. It employs a team of laboratory scientists, assistants, local physicians, canteen volunteers and mobile blood drive volunteers. Its staff members and trained volunteers undergo training programs in donor reactions, confidentiality programs, blood-borne pathogens, customer services and hazard communications. Northern California Community Blood Bank is located in Eureka, Calif.
