The North Marin Water District serves a suburban population of 56,000 people situated in and about the city of Novato, which is located in a warm inland coastal valley of Marin County, Calif., and several small improvement districts in the West Marin area near the coast. The district s mission statement is to provide an adequate supply of safe, reliable and high-quality water and deliver reliable and continuous sewer service to customers at a reasonable cost consistent with good conservation practices and minimum environmental impact. The North Marin Water District is a county water district operating under the provisions of Division 12 of the California Water Code. Its policy board is made up of five directors elected at large with staggered four-year terms. The directors appoint four officers of the board, the general manager, chief engineer, secretary and auditor-controller. The five departments that carry out the day-to-day activities of the NMWD are administration and finance, construction, engineering, operations and maintenance.
