NCI has been owned and operated by Joel Smallwood since 2008.Joel has been in the industry for 40 years. Before Joel owned his business he worked for (Gordon) Gearhart Insulation. Joel went to work for Gordon in 1980 at 17 as an installer until 1987 when he became an estimator. He and another employee, Ron, decided to open their own insulation company. In 1990, Joel and Ron decided it was time and made plans to move to Paradise, CA out of respect for their current employer. Fortunately, Gordon decided that he would rather retire and Joel/Ron took that opportunity to purchase Gearhart Insulation and stay on the central coast. Joel/Ron opened a satellite branch in Tulare to service the Central Valley. When Ron was ready to retire the pair sold their business to Masco. Joel managed the Atascadero branch for Masco until they moved the branch to Santa Maria. In 2008, Joel opened NCI and is continuing to service customers with the highest quality products and applications available today.
