Noma is a Japanese restaurant and Sushi bar inconspicuously tucked into a shopping center on the corner of Wilshire and 21st. The inside is completely different from the outside, with traditional Japanese decor and art and cozy booths. Just inside the front door is the sushi bar, where customers can sit and watch the chef at work or catch a game on the TV above the bar. The menu features hot and cold appetizers, entrees, fresh rolls, baked rolls, tempura rolls, sushi combination plates and combination bento plates with rice, salad and soup. Brown rice is available for an extra charge. Seafood selections include oysters, fried mussels, baked cod and seafood gyoza. Non-seafood items are also available like barbecue short ribs, pork cutlets and bulgogi, broiled thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet sauce. Noma is a family-oriented restaurant, with photos posted of guests celebrating birthdays here.
