History
In 1984 the John Nichols Gallery opened up on Friday and Saturday only in a small upstairs office in historic downtown Santa Paula. Visitors looked at the contemporary and vintage photographs and most did not understand what was going on. It took years for some people to come around but eventually most of the pubic came to respect photography as an artistic medium. The gallery next occupied the back half of a bookstore named Mr. Nichols. The bookstore came and went after 15 years but the gallery continued to develop. Over 5 years ago the gallery expanded by purchasing an existing custom frame shop and expanding services. Services now include custom framing, vintage and vernacular photography, fine art, digital printing, exhibit design and development and other creative services.
