The Next Stage, also known as Berubians Theatre, and formerly The Tre Stage, has been in existence for over 15 years in various forms. Today the spaces within the theatre are used for rehearsal, live shows and improv. Owner Chris Berube found the Berubian Players a few years after feeling put off by the pay-to-play theatres in Los Angeles that charge actors fees to be in plays. So he began this, which takes quite a different idea. Actors can join simply by auditioning, and shows are normally inexpensive. The small theatre puts on a wide range of shows, from Shakespeare to plays from local playwrights. Improv shows are weekly, and improv workshops are free, a rare find in Hollywood. The theater is also available for rental.
