History
Located at the historical Rolling Hills General Store landmark, New Horizons Child Development Center was established in 1979 with the mission of enriching the whole child during his or her earliest years of development. That mission has become our reputation 35 years later, and our program is known for producing confident, happy students eager to learn about the world around them. Joan Bauler, the director, created this program in response to her years of experience developing curriculum and working one on one with children through the Los Angeles Head Start program, as well as utilizing her knowledge gained during her graduate research in early childhood education and psychology. Her depth of insight into a child's early academic, social, and emotional needs, as well as knack for finding loyal teachers with the same insight, has resulted in one of the most consistent and advanced preschool programs on the Palos Verdes peninsula.
