Founded in 1921, the Nevada Irrigation District is an independent, public water resource agency that serves more than 20,000 homes, farms and businesses in Placer and Yuba counties in Nevada. The district supplies drinking and irrigation water. It provides outdoor public recreation options, such as camping, fishing, swimming, sunning, boating and water skiing at reservoirs. The Nevada Irrigation District also operates the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Power Project. The district supplies water for irrigation, municipal, domestic and industrial purposes. It produces over 3 billion gallons of treated drinking water annually. The district serves nearly 5,400 raw water customers. In addition, the Nevada Irrigation District handles water system problems.
