Part of a group that began in 1895 in Austria, the Sierra Madre Nature Friends was established in 1924. The idea is to intertwine the group's love of nature and the desire to conserve it with things like skiing, hiking and camping in the natural environment. Nature Friends facilitates these activities in its own backyard - the majestic Sierra Madre mountains. Additionally, the group hosts lectures, movie nights and concerts right on its own property. It is a non-profit group and asks that you call first prior to visiting. Membership applications can be found online, and dues are 30 dollars per year.
