Heather M. Hopkins founded My New Red Shoes in 2006. After learning of her mother's hardships and confidence issues as a disadvantaged youth, she wanted to create a program that empowered children by not only giving them a new pair of shoes but actively educating the community, as well. My New Red Shoes is a nonprofit organization that seeks to create compassion and acceptance. My New Red Shoes also provides homeless and disadvantaged children with a $50 gift card to be used toward new clothes. People of the community are encouraged to volunteer their time and services, or send donations.
