Founded in 1907, Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church is one of the oldest religious organizations in Marin. In addition to its weekly Sunday service, the church is home to a wide range of events and activities, from its Pumpkin Festival and Women's Christmas Bazaar to its Mt. Tam Youth Fellowship, which includes road trips and fundraisers for the charity Heifer Project International.
Pastor Kim Smith took the helm of the church in July 2010, coming from Trinity United Methodist Church in Berkeley. The church welcomes worshippers of all races, political beliefs and sexual orientations, hoping to be a "church of open hearts, open minds and open doors." It also is home to the non-sectarian Tamalpais Preschool, which has been in operation since 1956.
