Grafil has been producing a line of standard modulus carbon fibers since 1984. The driving force behind the development of carbon fiber in the 1970s was the aerospace industry. Once carbon fibers became commercially available, it was used for products such as golf clubs, fishing rods and tennis racquets. Carbon fiber is also used in industries such as oil and gas, wind energy, fuel cells, infrastructure, electronics, medical instruments and musical instruments. The company has sales representatives throughout the United States and Europe and a 60,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing plant in Sacramento, Calif.
