MCM Construction was formed as a general contractor that specialized in heavy highway and bridge construction. The company has completed more than 200 projects as a prime contractor and has more than 20 projects underway statewide. In 1983, it first ventured into Southern California to complete the Universal Avenue/Hollywood Boulevard over crossing in Universal City, Calif. The year 1986 saw the beginning of a select series of jobs in Southern California, all part of the Century Freeway Project. In 1989, the company played a major role in the attempted rescue of victims trapped on the Cypress Freeway after the 7.1 Loma Prieta earthquake. Six years later, it was awarded the first of two contracts that were part of the realignment and rebuilding of the Cypress Freeway. The company has built more than 1,000 bridges in California, becoming one of the state s leading bridge contractors. MCM Construction is headquartered in North Highlands, Calif.
