This apartment complex just south of Wilshire represents vintage Los Angeles architecture to a tee. A great find for the nostalgic, it feels like the '30s at the McCarty.
It's fairly easy to picture golden age Hollywood hopefuls frolicking around the wading pool that's central to the building's inner courtyard, surrounded by 22 units of one-bedroom and studio apartments spread over two floors.
Lots of foliage and shady trees insulate western-exposed apartments along the front of the complex.
This place is very well kept, though there are subtly quaint signs of age here and there that give the building an endearing realness that's unavoidably absent from newer structures that dominate the cityscape.
