MC Art Works was expanded as of 2010 from 1200 to 12,000 square feet. The space is set up to accomodate a large number of works by 10 or more artists at a time. Tentatively named "The Village Shops" and often called "the store" by owner Mark Canepa and his coworkers, this added-on venue is a great place to check out local artists or exhibit your own work. Canepa, an El Cerrito native and an artist, has often been commissioned by public agencies and private businesses to create art works. During his time in Southern California, he opened a gallery in North Hollywood and has done work for Hollywood sets and corporations as well as creating pieces for sale to the public.
