History
Obtaining permits and approvals to convert a single- family home into a bed and breakfast in 1984, adding a commercial kitchen so we could cater to groups for parties and weddings, was daunting. But we did it and opened in 1986 to start an incredible journey of welcoming tens and thousands of guests. Did we anticipate the hard work of maintaining an 1895 Victorian, late night check-ins and early morning breakfasts, as well as keeping up with the latest in technology so these guest could find us? Probably not. What we never anticipated was how satisfying the lifestyle would be for us. It has allowed us to put our culinary and hosting talents into full effect, while meeting wonderful, interesting people who have crossed our threshold often , creating long- lasting friendships. An amazing blessing.

In our over 27 years in business at The Madison Street Inn, we've seen trends that include business travelers, romantic getaways, temporary accommodation for traveling medical professionals and Silicon Valley Interns. Our food has been very well received. The gardens provide an ideal setting for parties (showers, birthday, rehearsal dinners. corporate events). People say our murder mystery weekends held in the Victorian Parlor (8 to 16 persons) are the perfect birthday treat. Parents visiting their children at Santa Clara University, Stanford and San Jose State love to stay with us on Parents Weekend and school scouting trips. If you ask our guests, they'd say our specialty is our nightly warm chocolate chip cookies. One guest described them as
