Lucy's Lunchbox is a nearly hidden cafe in the lobby of the historic Santa Monica Professional Building, built in 1928. The entrance and parking for the cafe are accessible from 7th Street. Breakfast is served until 11am, with croissants, breakfast sandwiches, quesadillas, scrambles, burritos, oatmeal and bagels available. Sandwiches come on wheat, sourdough, white, rye or croissant, with a side of kosher pickles or homemade coleslaw. Hot and cold sandwiches choices include chicken and Swiss, tuna salad, veggie, egg salad, pastrami, tuna melt, garden burger and the avocado, bacon & turkey melt. Salads include egg salad, tofu salad, fruit chicken salad and oriental chicken salad. Rice bowls have mixed brown and white rice, with toppings like veggies, tofu, avocado and grilled chicken. The cafe serves organic Groundwork coffee, with espresso and iced drinks available. Daily specials are available, and change seasonally, with choices like basil chicken paninis, turkey pastrami wraps and the chicken sausage and tofu rice bowls.
