Established in 1850, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is one of the largest sheriff's departments. In addition to specialized services, such as the sheriff's youth foundation, international liaison and employee support services, the department is divided into 10 divisions, each headed by a division chief. It has three patrol divisions, and custody operations, correctional, detective, court, technical, office of homeland security, administrative services, and leadership and training divisions. The department has various patrol stations, and provides contract law enforcement, inmate information, and court services. It also provides victim information and notification everyday program, a free, anonymous, computer-based telephone program that offers victims of crime information and notification services. Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is headquartered in Monterey Park, Calif.
