This cooperative was formed in 1954 by mothers who saw a rapidly growing community and wanted to form a nonprofit school with high standards. The school operates from the philosophy of providing an enriching environment through parent education and involvement and mutual support. In 2011, the school moved from its decades'-long home at Los Altos High School, and into brand-new digs the Covington School campus. LAPP offers age-appropriate, developmentally appropriate classes on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday schedule for young 3-year-olds, 3-to-4-year-olds, and 4-to-5-year-olds. The Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District supervises the program through its Adult Education. Parents work one day a week in their child's classroom and share obligations related to the school.
