Some of the problems we can help you with are: Allergies, Asthma, School Learning Problems and ADHD, Breast Feeding, Child Nutrition Developmental Problems, Sports Injuries. As your Pediatricians, we hope that we will be the primary source of medical advice about your infant, child, or adolescent. Each of us is Board Certified in Pediatrics. We are familiar with all the referral resources in our area for children and can direct your child to the appropriate specialist when it is needed. We consider ourselves to be your local community physicians, with the resources able to take care of all your children's needs. Because of what we do, we have the opportunity to bring change, to educate, to invigorate, to advocate and to make a difference. That is why Pediatrics is so different than other areas of medicine. Since we have been practicing for quite some time, we feel fully equipped to deal with the issues and concerns that parents pose to us on a daily basis. We love providing reassurance and anticipatory guidance for our new and established patients. In fact many of the issues parents bring up today are not new...they are similar to ones that existed in 1979. These issues or concerns include: when to start solids, when to take a newborn outside or to visit family, breast-feeding questions/concerns, what type of formula is best for my infant, are they ready to go back to playing their sport after an injury, what type of milk to drink, how to help a child who is a picky eater? As you become more knowledgeable about health and your child from information on the Internet, we must also continue to keep up with all the latest trends, issues and challenges that you face. In addition we face the continuous challenge of recognizing and dealing with new infections in the world and our community. Instead of dealing with chickenpox or measles, we see Swine Flu, MRSA, food borne illnesses, tick borne diseases, and new forms of diarrheal diseases. Over the last 50 years smoking has decreased but we still see illness due to secondary smoke. We have new environmental hazards that worry us and you parents, BPAs, lead in toys, mercury in fish, pesticides.
