This branch of the Bay Area chain has been in the Castro Village shopping center almost since Loard's beginning in 1950. The pink-and-white exterior hints at the goodies within. "Then and now, our ice cream is not a reduced-fat menu item and we're proud of it!" proclaims the menu, which offers sundaes, cups, cones and candy, as well as bulk ice cream and personalized ice cream cakes to take away. Late hours, especially in summer, make the shop popular with young people. The shop is cash only; there's an ATM on the premises.
