The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department serves residential and business area in Pleasanton and Livermore. The two municipalities consolidated their fire services in 1996 through a joint powers agreement. The department covers nearly 47 square miles from Foothill Road in Pleasanton to the Altamont Pass.
The department is comprised of 131 professional firefighters, fire inspectors and support staff. It has eight engine companies, two truck companies and 10 fire stations throughout Livermore and Pleasanton.
The department's No. 6 station is home to the Centennial Bulb, the oldest working lightbulb in the world at 109 years old.
