HistoryBoyd Lighting was founded in 1921 by William Boyd to address the specialized lighting needs of architects and interior designers in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a focus on creating custom light fixtures, William Boyd set up the company's first manufacturing studio in San Francisco, CA. William Boyd's grandson, Jay Sweet, joined the company in 1975 and set out to broaden Boyd Lighting's distribution network, and help the company move beyond its roots as a strictly custom manufacturer. In 1981 Jay moved the manufacturing facility to Colorado Springs, CO; while keeping the corporate offices in California. Our designers are leaders in the interior design and architecture fields. Among them, Jamie Drake, Laura Kirar, Windsor Smith, Deirdre Jordan, Jiun Ho, Clodagh, and Fiyel Levent.
