The Lafayette Arts & Science Foundation is a nonprofit, volunteer and parent-run education foundation providing financial help for local schools in the areas of science, math, history, writing, foreign language, technology, art and music. Despite their name, the group's focus extends well beyond just arts and science programs. LASF relies heavily on financial contributions from parents, and actively pursues contributions from those whose children stand to benefit from enhanced academic and arts programs. LASF has been a major force in the success of Lafayette's schools for the last 29 years.
Rather than merely raising money and handing it over to the local school district, LASF rates the programs it supports for relevance and performance, and adjusts them accordingly while working in conjunction with the district curriculum. LASF also coordinates and sponsors art and science fairs and supports school music festivals.
