Combining historic craftwork, vintage clothing and craft supplies for sale, Lacis Museum of Lace and Textile goes beyond the scope of typical craft stores. Lacis retail store, originally founded in 1965 by Kaethe and Jules Kliot, expanded in 2004 to include a museum area that features regular displays from the owners' private collection. Changing twice a year, showings include works of tapestry, lace, clothing and more, with some items dating back to the 16th century. In addition to museum items, the large, multilevel space features craft necessities like cloth and yarn, as well as vintage gowns and accessories for sale. Visitors should be sure to sign Lacis' guest book in the side room, and inquire about occasional classes offered upstairs.
