The Los Angeles Youth Network is a non-profit organization with the mission "to end homelessness one kid at a time by providing shelter, food and counseling for the abused, neglected and abandoned." The organization reports that as many as 7,500 homeless young people sleep on the streets of Los Angeles each night. It provides residential emergency shelters such as this house on Beachwood Drive, independent living apartment programs as well as an outreach team and education services designed to inform at-risk youth of their options toward a better life. Ultimately, LAYN seeks to enable each child it encounters to permanently transition away from street life into a safe place to live, giving them the chance to become full participants in society. LAYN's board of directors is comprised of many prominent Angelenos from the entertainment and business communities.
