History
We are a non-profit multi-cultural arts; after school; at-risk youth program teaching drums, dance, and visual/media arts of Brazil. L.A. Samba Kids utilizes Brazilian performing arts as a tool for self-empowerment, cultivating critical consciousness, instilling confidence, skills, and alternatives to the violence and destructive behavior locally. Teaching the importance of community cohesion, while fostering a safe-environment after-school with movement, creative expression , and school-based performances. Arts education as part of the core curriculum, cultivates the whole child, gradually building many kids of literacy while developing intuition, imagination and dexterity into unique forms of communication and artistic expression. We've connected the California VAPA and ELA scholastic requirements to ensure quality continuation of education. We are in need of more instruments, which $1,500 would support six students in our program.
