The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for providing a system of recreational facilities and programs for the residents of and visitors to Los Angeles County, Calif. The department also seeks to develop public knowledge and support for parks and recreation throughout the county s more than 85 cities, numerous conservancies and nonprofit organizations. The department engages in efforts to reduce juvenile crime, improve school readiness among children, develop accessible parks and activities, protect natural resources, develop open space and trails, establish healthy parks, influence economic well-being of the county and enhance the social and emotional well-being of children and families.
