The Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender is one of the departments administered by the government of Los Angles. The department provides legal representation services for indigent people charged with a crime that the public defender is unable to represent in court proceedings in superior courts. It handles several types of misdemeanor and felony cases through a staff of more than 200 employees. The Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender was founded in 1993.
