History
I've been in the field of psychology since 1997 when I first began with the study of childhood development and psychology. I graduated (with honors) with two BAs (in Psychology and in Spanish) and a minor in Business Management from Anderson University. I received my MA from Chapman University in Psychology (again with honors). As a student I published several research papers and I was the Vice President of Psi Chi, the National Honors Society for Psychology studies. While in grad school I was a member of the Sacramento chapter of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) and served on the board for two and a half terms as the elected Pre-License Chairperson before going on maternity leave. After receiving my MA, I treated clients for over 5 years at The Place Within (a nonprofit counseling center) where I saw all ages (families and individuals) before completing my licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and opening my own practice.
Specialties
I believe in your ability to heal and change, and my aim is to help you do just that. Talk therapy offers the opportunity for insight into patterns and behaviors. But insight alone isn't always enough to make meaningful and lasting change. I use a combination of warm, direct, and supportive therapy with the latest evidence-based and neurologically-informed therapy techniques. Using this mixture of approaches allows my clients to experience deep and rapid change in their minds, emotions and relationships. I always strive to give clients what I would want- straight talk and expertise in a warm and respectful space. I genuinely love my clients and the work we do. I'm happy to offer a free phone consultation to determine if I might be the right fit for you.
