Dr. Bortnik has extensive clinical background in the neuropsychology of various neurological conditions, with specialty training in epilepsy, movement disorders, and aging and dementia.
Dr. Bortnik obtained her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, and went on to earn her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. She completed a Neuropsychology internship at the Charleston Consortium (Medical University of South Carolina/Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center) in Charleston, SC. She then completed a three-year Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY. During her fellowship, Dr. Bortnik was the recipient of the Epilepsy Foundation's Behavioral Sciences Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award.
