KIPP Summit Academy is one of two charter schools in the San Lorenzo Unified School District, serving nearly 400 students grades 5-8. It received an Academic Performance Index ranking of 845 for the 2009-10 school year.
The student body is about 45 percent Latino, 28 percent Asian, 15 percent African American, five percent white and three percent Filipino. About 41 percent are considered English language learners.
Additionally, about 60 percent of students receive free or reduced lunch.
KIPP Summit Academy's mission is, "is that students, families, and staff work together to prepare every child for college. Through hard work, high expectations, mutual respect and discipline, we will all realize our highest potential and become agents of social change."
