History
The Joy Picus Child Development Center was established in 1989 as the City Hall South Child Care Center, then renamed the Joy Picus Child Development Center after the Council member Joy Picus, whose dedication to young children pioneered the first child care center that was to provide child care services to the City of Los Angeles employees. Today is open to City employees, as well as everyone else. The Joy Picus Child Development Center is managed by the Mount Washington Preschool and Child Care Centers (MWPCCC). They have had the center since 2002.
