This is the business office for Jodek International, a fabric and textile importer. It was founded in 1980 by cousins Helen and Maurice Douek. Today it is run by Helen's son, David Douek. It still carries the tradition of importing the finest fabrics from all over the world.
Jodek distributes the textiles to tailors, designers and to independent artists who sew. Some of its biggest clients are movie studios who are always in search of specific quality and historic accuracy in their films.
The store has cashmeres and linens from Great Britain, Scotland, Italy and France. Most of the fabrics are tailored into suits or formal attire, but they do have a separate section that houses prized cashmeres from England. This is not a retail store and is by appointment only.
