Since 1985, Java City has pioneered initiatives designed to enhance the global village, support the communities and protect the environment. Java City launched the Eco-Grounds program, an extensive line of coffees promoting a myriad of social and environmental issues, including improvement of farmers and workers standards of living, sustainable agriculture and rainforest preservation. It focuses on the needs of the local community by donating coffee to homeless shelters and other non-profit organizations, as well as participating in charitable events throughout California and the country. The company uses Java Jackets made from 100 percent recycled materials, cups and lids made from recycled manufacturing waste, and napkins made with 40 percent post consumer waste. Java City s headquarters have an extensive recycling program and it donates its coffee bags to the Sacramento Zoo for reuse as animal bedding.
