The Jain religion originated in India, with roots dating back to 900 B.C. Founded in 1973, the Jain Center of Northern California currently has a membership of more than 600 families in the San Francisco Bay Area. The JCNC offers Jain, Hindi and Gujarati classes for children.
Visible from afar, the white-colored shrine is located inside the Milpitas center, which is a two-story 24,000-square-foot building. It has a huge auditorium and kitchen facility. The facility can be rented out for private functions, but they ask that the food served be strictly vegetarian.
