The Irish Society of the National Capital Region, founded in 1957 and incorporated in Ontario in 1995, is a non-profit charitable corporation dedicated to promoting and strengthening Irish Irish-Canadian culture and heritage. Through a variety of events, including the annual Ottawa Irish Festival, the Society brings together members and volunteers to support the Irish Irish-Canadian community in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.
With a mission to create a greater awareness of the Irish Society within the college and university community, the Society aims to provide financial support to its members as required. Managed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors, the Society organizes cultural, social, and fundraising events, including the St. Patrick's Parade and Party, the publication of the Irish Society NCR Newsletter, and the Celtic Cross Memorial commemoration.
