The International Longshore and Warehouse Union, also known as ILWU, represents more than 60,000 working women and men in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. The organization includes longshore, warehouse, tugboat, agricultural and tourism industry workers, as well as watchmen and clerks. It offers assistance to adopt resolutions and statements of policy on various political and economic matters. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union develops policies against discrimination, harassment and retaliation. The organization organizes alcohol and drug recovery programs. In addition, it assists workers to choose unions without employer intimidation. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union provides consulting services for working families on issues related to health care and job security. The organization maintains a location in Oakland, Calif.
