The Independent Distributors of Electronics Association ( IDEA ) is a non-profit trade association representing quality and ethically oriented independent distributors of electronic components. The purpose of IDEA is to promote the independent distribution industry through a media advocacy campaign, to improve the quality of products and services through a quality certification program, educational seminars, and conferences, and to promote the study, development, and implementation of techniques and methods designed to improve the business of independent distributors. The association is the unified voice for the independent distributor. The organization is run by a Board of Directors representing both large and small distributors in the independent distribution industry and by IDEA General Manager Debra Eggeman, located in Buena Park, CA. IDEA provides a vehicle for independent distributors who share the same quality, business, and ethical standards, and for customers who want to identify quality distributors from which to buy. For the first time in history, the independent distribution market has united.IDEA is a proactive organization that is directly engaging many of the issues that are confronting our industry.By joining our association, you will interact with other industry peers and leaders who are confronting the same industry issues as your organization. To date, we have entered into working agreements with the International Association of Counterfeit Coalition ( www.iacc.org ), the Electronic Resellers Association, Inc ( www.erai.com ), and with Huff Communications ( www.huffcomm.com ). We have written a white paper for members detailing, best practices for incoming inspection procedures. We distribute a monthly newsletter for members. This newsletter is packed with information to update your company on IDEA industry topics and concerns. We encourage your participation. Please join today! IDEA is a non-profit entity, so the money generated through membership is used to fund all programs and expenses for the association. Funds are also designated for the operation and maintenance of this website, as well as an aggressive public relations campaign. A monthly retainer is also deducted for the administration and management of IDEA. Board members are strictly volunteers and receive no compensation for their time, efforts, and travel.
