Established in 1977, House of Ruth assists women and children victimized by domestic violence by providing them shelter, programs, opportunities and educational classes. It provides crisis intervention, information and referral services. The organization operates a residential program that includes emergency and transitional shelters. House of Ruth offers counseling, case management services, medical and legal advocacy, and housing, career and educational assistance to its nonresidential clients. It also conducts classes on several topics, including parenting, computer skills and resume writing. The organization additionally publishes a monthly newsletter that features information on domestic violence and a range of other issues. House of Ruth has a location in Pomona, Calif.
