The Hidden Genius Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Oakland, CA. They train and mentor Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to empower them to transform their lives and communities. Through their Catalyst Programming, Immersion Program, and Community Partnerships, they provide introductory workshops, mentorship, and training in computer science, software development, and more, preparing these young men to participate in and contribute to the 21st-century tech economy.
The Hidden Genius Project's mission is to celebrate and realize the genius of Black male youth, ensuring that their talents are no longer hidden, suppressed, or belittled. With STEM employment opportunities on the rise, they aim to equip these young men with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the tech industry. Since their establishment in 2012, they have served over 11,400 students, providing them with over 772,800 hours of direct training. Through their programs, they are creating a future where Black male youth demand and work towards a world where their genius shines every day.
